Arrival in Japan

Technically, I arrived in Japan yesterday at approx. 5PM JST, but I'm posting now because I was pretty tired then. hehe

Anyway, I know it's 3AM JST, but since i slept for about 8 hours and seeing how its 2PM EST, my biological clock just won't let me go back to bed. So with about 4 hours to kill until the bus back to Narita airport leaves, I have nothing to do.

However, I did have some interesting experiences in the terminal that I'll ramble on about!

First off, I got to ride the sailor moon train! Or at least thats what I call it... It was a small train that connected two of the terminal 2 buildings together. It drove itself, and had an female announcer (pre recorded) that sounded like something out of sailor moon... or some anime. It was pretty funny.
Then, customs was pretty fun. It took all of 20 minutes and intense muscle strain lifting a heavy bag around... Thank goodness for those carts!
Finally, I got to the bus and headed to the hotel!

Actually, it wasn't bad at all. It was a very smooth and fast, didn't have trouble at customs or security, found the bus quickly, and got to my room without any trouble... Now, to get to Ueda without getting lost!

Last night in Toronto

So, the time is almost here. In approximately 12 hours, I will be heading to the airport, and in 15 hours I'll be somewhere above northern Ontario in an airplane.
I'll admit, I'm feeling the last minute cold feet, but I'm still really happy about it! I just wish it wasn't so hard to leave family and friends.
I found out the hotel I am going to stay in my first night has free high-speed inter access so I can talk to all my friends before they go to work/school on Tuesday morning (EST)!

So all in all, everything is packed and ready. Now to try and fall asleep >.>

Two More Days!

Hello everyone,
こんにちは、

Well, I guess I should actually start this blog now, seeing how I'm only 2 days from flying to Japan.
Yep that's right, only two days until I depart from Canada for a year (more or less).

It's a 14 hour flight (give me strength :/) non-stop from Toronto to Tokyo on Air Canada, and I get to spend my first night in Japan in a hotel in Tokyo!
I leave Toronto at 13:10 EST on Monday, September 26, 2005 and arrive in Tokyo at 15:50 JST (2:50 EST) on Tuesday, September 27, 2005. So, I'm going to have a pretty "interesting" sleeping schedule my first few days.

After my night in Tokyo, I head out to Ueda, in the Nagano Prefecture, where I go settle into my new apartment and get to go adventure out into the Japanese city. I just hope my basic Japan 101 skills will help me from totally getting lost!

Anyway, I'm pretty excited and almost packed, just gotta get a few last minute things done as well as pack my computer up and I should be good to go. Too bad I'm not flying out tomorrow :/
